Understand what is being controlled
The plug switches the electricity supplied to the connected device. A compatible lamp with a mechanical switch may light again when power returns if its own switch is left on. Equipment that needs an electronic button pressed may stay off.
Switching the power does not add temperature, speed or mode control. Read both manufacturers' instructions and check how your appliance behaves before scheduling it.
Start with a compatible, supervised use
A simple suitable lamp is easier to understand than a high-power appliance. Watch the first scheduled operations and keep the controls accessible. We are not recommending this setup for heaters, air conditioners, vehicle charging or equipment essential to safety. Do not use automation as permission to leave unsuitable equipment unattended.
Check voltage, current, load type and the exact model's limits. A headline maximum wattage does not authorize every appliance or motor. Do not improvise stacks of adapters to make a plug fit; consult a qualified electrician if compatibility is unclear.
The US-market Tapo P115 two-pack
This selection is the US P115 version with energy monitoring, scheduling and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Its electrical standard is not universal. Before using it elsewhere, check the device label and local supply, plug standard, installation requirements and support. A travel adapter does not change voltage or load limits.
Monitoring is not a savings guarantee
The app shows information about the connected load, not your entire home. A cost estimate depends on the tariff entered and may not include every part of a bill. The smart plug also uses electricity itself.
Savings, if any, come from avoiding use that previously occurred. If you already switch the lamp off when it is not needed, convenience may be the main benefit. If setup and another app feel more burdensome than the task, a normal switch may remain the better choice.
The US P115 is rated for 100–125 V, with maximum limits of 15 A and 1,800 W. Both limits and the permitted load type apply; it is not a 230 V universal adapter.
